Background: Mike served in the Royal Navy for 13 years, the majority of which were spent in a Special Communications Unit involving Russian Language and Electronic skills. In 1980, he joined the Metropolitan Police, where he served in a variety of roles, including for the last six years, the position of Sector Intelligence Officer responsible for the gathering and dissemination of intelligence in order to combat criminal activities. He retired from the force in 2001.
